Paperwork, Billing & Final Dispatch Exercise
Learning goal: Close out a shipment accurately and practice a complete dispatch decision.
- Common records include the signed dispatch agreement, broker-carrier agreement, rate confirmation, bill of lading and signed proof of delivery. Requirements vary by carrier and broker.
- Check delivery paperwork for signatures and exceptions. Send documents only through approved channels and according to the carrier’s instructions.
- Example dispatch fee: 5% of $2,000 in fee-eligible revenue = $100, only if that fee basis is in the written agreement. Invoice accurately and retain records.
- Never promise guaranteed loads or income. The dispatcher’s role is to support a real carrier with accurate information, compliance awareness and sound communication.
